This past Saturday marked the launch of the 2019 Big Fresno Fair! The fair kicks off every year with the rabbit show. This year Kingsburg FFA had 14 Rabbit exhibitors. They did extremely well and the results are summarized below. Rabbits can compete in three different categories: Breeding Classes, Market Classes, and Showmanship. We have the following results to report:
Students interested in exhibiting rabbits at the 2020 Fresno Fair should speak with Mrs Ferguson, the rabbit advisor. Rabbits are a great beginner project for students who have never shown before. There is a small financial investment, and the project is only 30 days long. There will be an exhibitor information meeting on April 2nd, 2020 @ 6pm in Room 52.

We are so excited for them and their chance to go to Regionals later this year. Congratulations again!!
After three years of hard work, these ladies have done it and won state finals!! We are so proud of them and are so blessed to have them represent our chapter! We are also proud of the Tree Pruning team and all of their hard work. We cannot wait to see what is in their future next year!!
Your Chapter President wants YOU to bring back the chapter jackets you borrowed. After fair, most of them disappeared and we need these back for competition season! We know who has them and we will start charging if they don’t come back soon. Please please please bring these back!! Thank you and happy Super Bowl!
Our annual blanket drive has officially come to an end! The blanket drive started on November 13th 2017 and ended on December 13th. Overall as a chapter we collected over 270 blankets. A majority of the blankets were then donated to families in Traver and then KCAPS. We are so thankful for everyone who helped us assist the people in our community. Congratulations to the chapter on another successful blanket drive.
Kingsburg High School Ag Department welcomed the Greenhand Officer team at our chapter meeting in December. The Greenhand Officer team consists of eight members. These members include: President Taylor Trigueiro, Vice President Hunter Stone, Secretary Gabriela Aguirre, Sentinel Mikayla Vierra, Reporter Marissa Burkhard, Treasurer Rogelio Lara, Historian Abigail Johnson, and Chaplain Ally Johnson. We are so excited to welcome them to our family and watch them grow in their leadership skills.
Each month our chapter recognizes members who have showed excellent dedication to our chapter. In the month of September ,senior, Dylan Stockton received this award for his time spent helping out at our school farm by cleaning not only his pin but other areas of the farm as well. He also, took care of his peer’s animals when they were not able to make it to the farm. Our October and November aggies of the month were seniors Josh Hager and Victor Perez. Both students showed strong leadership during fair week. Josh assisted our advisor in the hog barn with making sure that every student made it to the arena on time and that their hog was show ready. Victor led the beef barn by helping his peers get their steers ready and being the first to clean our chapter’s area. Our December aggie of the month was freshman, Taylor Trigueiro she received this award for being involved in every activity that she is able to participate in. She is one of our new greenhand officers and has also participated in contests such as opening and closing and showed at the Fresno and Caruthers fair.
Right now, our chapter is finishing our Winter Career Development Experience teams and beginning our spring ones. This winter, Mr. Donovan brought back the Tree Pruning team after 2 years and the team of 4 placed 2nd at their first contest. David Reimer, a freshman, took 1st High Individual. Our winter vine pruning team, run by Mrs. Sanchez, consists of 6 of our chapter girls and they placed 1st at their St. Helena contest. We are also very proud to say that we held our very own contest for the first time here in Kingsburg. 18 chapters attended and it huge success thanks to everyone who donated and helped during the contest. We are excited to start our spring teams very soon. We will be getting chapter members together to compete in the dairy cattle judging team, run by Mrs. Sanchez. Students judge between 5 and 7 classes of 4 dairy cows and heifers, ranging in age and breed and place them in the order of their choice, then give reasons on 3 of the classes to a judge. The competitors are judged on the accuracy of their placings and the quality of their reasonings. Our Agriculture Mechanics team with Mr. Donovan is also starting up. Students are judging on their knowledge of welding tools and judged on their ability to weld properly. Our team of freshman competing in the Best Informed Greenhand with Mrs. Ferguson will be traveling to different schools to be tested on their knowledge of the FFA, including basic rules and history of the organization. Our public speaking and banking teams also with Mrs. Ferguson will be starting up this spring. There are a variety of ways to compete and enhance public speaking skills between these teams. They are opportunities to practice skills necessary for real world experiences. Mrs. Ferguson is also starting a new spring team this year, nursery landscaping, where students are judged on their evaluation of plant species and quality. As well as an identification portion. We wish all of our teams the best of luck and hope to bring home many memories and maybe even ribbons.
